Frequently Asked Questions

Why Consulting and Coaching?

  • Why should I choose Consulting & Coaching over other coaching firms?

Because we don’t just talk strategy — we build systems that work. We’ve run, grown, and sold businesses ourselves. Our focus is on measurable growth, proven frameworks, and straight-talking advice. We tell it as it is, not what you want to hear. In short we provide businesses with the Tools Training, Help and Support they need in order to get where they want to be.

  • Can you work with my senior management team, not just me?

Yes. We often coach boards, senior leadership teams, and department heads to align strategy, culture, and execution. The biggest growth happens when everyone pulls in the same direction.

  • What’s the difference between business growth coaching and business mentoring?

Coaching is about structured accountability and skill development; mentoring shares experience and perspective. We combine both — guiding you with proven systems while mentoring you through real-world challenges from experience. This is what makes us truely unique and as a result we are able to ensure that our clients’ do not make the same mistakes.

  • What makes your coaching different / why choose you?

Our coaching is tailored to the people and business we are working with, as one thing we have found is that no two businesses are the same, nor is the person leading the business. This is why we created our own methodology and why we believe we are a multi award winning company, and our MD Nicholas has made the Top 10 UK coaches for the last 2 years.

    1. We have hands on practical experience of growing our own businesses from start up to over £150 million.

    4. Our proven systems and adopt a “get and keep more customers” mindset rather than just ‘grow revenue’.

    5. We have frameworks for leadership and marketing rhythm (systemised approach) which has been proven to work by over 50,000 entrepreneurs.

    6. Our work with UK & European clients, we understand SME dynamics, value traditional business discipline and real‐world accountability.

    7. We don’t sugar-coat: we call out poor habits, fix broken systems, and build sustainable growth.

    8. Our emphasis in on your results using our own experience, results, methodology, and your commitment to partnered accountability.

  • What is a business coach and how is it different from a mentor or consultant?

A business coach guides you and your leadership team to improve performance, overcome obstacles, and achieve your business goals. Unlike a consultant who tends to do work for you, or a mentor who shares experience and advice more informally, a coach works with you to change your thinking, your leadership, and how you market and run your business. A good coach helps you become self-reliant, rather than dependent.

  • What industries do you specialise in?

We started working in Hospitality, Hotels, Venues, TMC’s and developed into Pharma, construction, tech, professional services, finance, and manufacturing. We have specialist coaches on hand. This has developed as sectors have realised that leadership, marketing and customer acquisition systems drive success.

  • When should I hire a business coach?

You should consider hiring a coach when you have reached a point where you’re serious about growth (not just treading water), when you’re willing to change how things are done, and when you have the time and resources to engage meaningfully. If you’re still stuck in startup chaos, you might be better served first by a clearer foundational strategy or mentoring, until you’re ready to scale. Business coaching isn’t a quick fix.

Because we have grown our own businesses, and a coupel to over £100 million, we have been in your shoes and specialise in helping business owners get and keep more customers, and leadership/marketing of senior leaders, as such we are in a good position to work with you to get you and your business to the next-level. improvement.

  • What can I expect in my first meeting with you?

In the first session we’ll clarify your key business and leadership goals, establish where you are now (what’s working / what’s not), identify the gaps (customers, marketing, systems, leadership behaviours), and agree on a high-level path forward. You’ll leave with clear next actions and we’ll set how we’ll track progress. Good coaching begins with clarity of where you want to go.

Because we work with owners, CEOs and MDs, we will focus on you and your businesses leadership capability, marketing, customer acquisition & retention systems.

  • How long before I see results and what kind of results can I expect?

Results depend on your starting point, your commitment, and how quickly you implement changes. We don’t promise “overnight success” — that’s unrealistic. But you will see value in structured leadership improvement, stronger marketing and acquisition systems, and more predictable growth in customer base.

Typically, working with you may span 6–12 months for meaningful transformation (especially when shifting leadership and marketing habits).

We do provide a guarantee with respect to your retrun on investment when you engage for 12 months and over.

  • How do you help businesses “get and keep more customers”?

This is at the Core of what we do and it is called our Entrepreneurs Sales and marketing Sytem which enables us to help our clients, like you, build predictable marketing and sales systems — from clear positioning and messaging to automated lead flow and client retention processes. You’ll gain rhythm, not randomness, in your customer acquisition.

The Rhythmic marketing activity will lead to you experienceing a predictable flow of enquiries, and a degree of certianty you may have not experienced before.

  • Will coaching interfere with my day-to-day business operations / will my team be disrupted?

Not reasonably if we plan smartly. Good coaching works around your business not by distracting you from it. We’ll identify key actions and behaviours that integrate with your leadership role, your marketing and customer-acquisition systems. There may be a brief transition phase when new approaches are establishing, but the aim is net improvement in business operations. As noted: a coach’s job isn’t to cause chaos, but to make your business more efficient and productive.

Because we work with senior leaders, we will work with you to develop your leadership behaviours and marketing rhythm, which require commitment, not disruption.

  • How much does business coaching cost and what is the investment?

Cost varies depending on your business size, ambition, how many leadership/marketing areas we tackle, and whether we add team workshops, systems audits or ongoing retention work. The investment should be viewed in light of the return: more customers, better retention, improved leadership and marketing — that’s long-term value, not a cost.

As evry business is different we have different coaching plan’s depending on you, your business and where you wnt to get to.

Once we know what you want to achieve we will provide you with the right investment coaching package. Our Coaching starts from £599 / month.

  • What kind of businesses / clients do you work with?

We specialise in working with business owners, CEOs, MDs and business leaders who are serious about growth. We help companies who want to attract more customers reliably, keep them longer (not just one-off sales), and develop leadership & marketing systems rather than ad-hoc tactics.

If you’re in a business where customer acquisition, retention and leadership function matter (e.g., service businesses, SMEs scaling, companies needing sustainable growth rather than quick fixes), you’ll fit well.

If your business isn’t ready yet for coaching you can always have a one off session where we can create a plan for you to get your business growing.

  • How do you measure progress and ensure accountability?

Good coaching isn’t vague. We set clear metrics: number of new customers, customer retention rate, leadership/marketing behaviours implemented (e.g., monthly acquisition rhythm), and then review regularly. We’ll build a tracking sheet for outreach/marketing/lead generation and a leadership development plan for senior staff.

We ensure accountability at our Bi-weekly sessions where we will review your Score card and numbers.

  • Is coaching done remotely or in person, and what is the format?

Yes, it can be both. The majority of our coaching relationships today operate online via video calls (Zoom) and this works well for all our UK & European clients. In-person sessions are optional (for workshops, retreats, team sessions) depending on your location and budget. A flexible hybrid format tends to give best value.

Wherever possible we will do our initial meeting in person and certain meetings will be best done at your offices.

  • What if I don’t see the results I want – what happens then?

It’s fair to ask this. Coaching is a partnership: you do the work and implement, we facilitate and guide. No reputable coach guarantees specific income figures (because so many variables exist). But you can expect transparency. If progress is off-track we revisit the plan, adjust strategy, ensure you’re doing the behaviours that drive change. If it’s clear the relationship isn’t working, you’re free to discuss exit or alternative format.

  • What is the difference between coaching for leadership vs coaching for marketing and customer acquisition?

    Good question.

Leadership coaching means working with senior leaders (CEOs, MDs) on their mindset, behaviours, decision-making, team leadership, culture, emotional intelligence, strategic thinking.

Marketing & customer acquisition coaching means working with business owners and marketing leaders on how to attract customers, build predictable acquisition systems, retain customers, optimise marketing funnels, and align leadership decision-making to marketing results.

Our unique value is that we bring both together — leadership and marketing/customer acquisition. Most coaches specialise in one but we know the importance of making the link between the two: leadership drives marketing & growth, marketing systems feed the business leaders. That means better ROI for clients.

  • Can you help me keep customers, not just get new ones?

Absolutely. Getting new customers is only half the challenge; retaining them and creating predictable income streams is what builds long-term business value. We focus on the full customer life-cycle: acquisition, activation, retention, referral. We work on the leadership and marketing systems that support customer loyalty, recurring revenue, and the business becomes less vulnerable to one-off sales or client loss.

  • How do I know if I’m ready for coaching?

You’re ready if you’re willing to:

    • Invest time (not just money) in doing things differently.
    • Change how you lead and how you market.
    • Be honest about your current state (customers, marketing, leadership) and accept feedback.
    • Commit to accountability and tracking progress.

If you’re still overwhelmed, constantly firefighting, unable to step out of “doing everything yourself” and don’t have time or resources to invest, then you might need to stabilise first before full-scale coaching. This is something we help a lot of SME business onwers with first of all.

  • How do you help CEOs and MDs develop as leaders?

We focus on leadership clarity, accountability, and communication. Using proven frameworks, we help senior leaders move from firefighting to foresight — making better decisions, managing their teams effectively, and leading with confidence.

This is quite often by changing the questions that are asked as well as setting clearly communicated expectations and targets.

  • What happens if my business hits a crisis or unexpected challenge during coaching?

We adapt. Coaching isn’t theory — it’s practical guidance. Whether it’s financial pressure, a people issue, or market shift, we help you respond strategically and protect progress.

  • How do you measure ROI from business coaching?

We track metrics like lead flow, conversion rate, average customer value, retention rate, team engagement, and your personal productivity. The goal: measurable business and behavioural improvements.

  • Do you offer non-executive director support?

Yes. Nicholas Bills acts as an active NED for several UK companies — providing board-level strategy, growth planning, and leadership alignment. This complements our coaching work perfectly.

  • What frameworks or systems do you use in your coaching?

Our approach is based on the Entrepreneurs Marketing & Sales System and the Entrepreneurs Masterplan. These provide step-by-step processes for consistent marketing, sales rhythm, and leadership clarity.
